Architecture Landscape and Urbanism worked with South Bank Architects to design a roof extension to a Grade 2 listed building in Kensington. The building had three existing flats, with the upper flat extending over the top two floors being owned by our client. The project extended the building vertically adding one further floor and then split the upper three storeys into two flats of one and three bedrooms.
The new flats were fully refurbished and a south facing terrace was added to the rear of the three bedroom unit.
The project faced considerable complications, not least the historic listing, central urban location and multiple neighbours to all sides however the completed flats are beautiful, generous, light and functional incorporating the more attractive and interesting original features such as fire places within a more modern overall finish.
We worked with our client on all stages of the project from concept design through to managing the build contract.
